Tamayura More Aggressive

No doubt the series was anticipating the most this summer season is , sequel to the "Tamayura ~futatose~" original anime and the "Tamayura" four episode OVA.

Absolutely love the "Tamayura" franchise, it's a wonderful slice-of-life show like "Aria" or "Sketchbook ~full color'S~" that is filled with heartwarming moments and tales of the characters leisurely daily lives, my favorite style in this genre.

The core plot centers around Fuu's daily life with her friends in Takehara, a city in Hiroshima prefecture that makes each episode a feast for the eyes by showing us gorgeous Japanese landscapes and scenery.

Although large part of the story deals with Fuu overcoming her father's death through picking up his favorite hobby, photography, the series is always uplifting and never sad or depressing. This season's ending sequence shows it well, starting with Fuu's tears of sadness, it ends with her bright smile.

While there can be some sad scenes, in a slice-of-life series of this type, they always lead to an uplifting conclusion. Whereas the original OVA centered more on Fuu's journey to overcome her father's passing, "Tamayura ~futatose~" focused on all the various characters, showcasing a challenge each of them overcame.

In this first episode we get but a brief glimpse of Kanae, the new character that joins the cast as a girl from Fuu's school who like Fuu herself is very much into photography. With Fuu's desire to establish a photography club, am interested to see how their bond will develop, the opening sequence suggests Kanae will become one of Fuu's close friends.

Director Sato Junichi of "Aria" fame is once again at the creative helm for this new season while studio TYO Animations is in charge of the animation. Though this show's animation style will never really strike as visually stunning or groundbreaking, the overall quality is excellent, the characters are drawn with care and the various backgrounds are enchanting paintings that make you wish you could visit them in real life.

Luckily all of the voice talents also reprise their roles. Taketatsu Ayana voices Fuu, she previously voiced Azusa in "K-ON!", Kirino in "Ore No Imouto Ga Konna Ni Kawaii Wake Ga Nai", Eclair in "Dog Days" and Suguha in "Sword Art Online".

Kaoru is voiced by Asumi Kana who also voiced Miya in "Amagami SS", Nyaruko in "Haiyore! Nyaruko-san", Yukikaze in "Dog Days", Poplar in "Working!!" and Madoka in this season's "Inu to Hasami wa Tsukaiyou".

Iguchi Yuka voices feisty Norie, she tackled other roles like Index in "To aru Majutsu no Index", Subaru in "Mayo Chiki!", Tsukihi in "Bakemonogatari" and Mako in "Girls und Panzer". Shy Maon is voiced by Gibu Yuko, she also voiced Yumi in "MM!" and Nozomi in "Senkyo to Koi to Chocolate".

Fuu's childhood friend Chihiro is voiced by Kotobuki Minako who previously voiced Tsumugi in "K-ON!", Yuuko in "A Channel", Mitsuko in "To aru Kagaku no Railgun" and Natsumi in "Natsuiro Kiseki".

New character Kanae will be voice by Kayano Ai who tackled roles like Muginami in "Rinne no Lagrange", Mayaka in "Hyouka", Saori in "Girls und Panzer" and Mashiro in "Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo".

Riho, the professional photographer that befriends Fuu, is voiced by Erino Hazuki, she voiced Akari in "Aria". Ohara Sayaka voices Kaoru's sister Sayomi, she also voiced Alicia in "Aria", Selvaria in "Valkyria Chronicles", Irisviel in "Fate/Zero", Milly in "Code Geass" and Valmet in "Jormungand".

While I have high hopes of and look forward to several other series this season, after but one episode am convinced that "Tamayura ~More Aggressive~" will be my favorite show this season and the one I will undoubtedly enjoy the most.
